What is a Therapeutic Intensive?

Traditionally, good therapy takes months, or even years, to create lasting breakthroughs. You and your therapist chip away at the most important problems in your life one hour at a time, week-by-week.

Intensive therapy is different. With this process we create deep transformation much faster by working together for 1–3 full days.

Designed to create an inflection point in your life — it allows for a focused period of time to create deeper levels of insight, new tools, and multiple layers of integration.

Unlike traditional therapy, intensives allow the body, mind, and nervous system to go through deepening levels of activation and resolution without interruption. This empowers us to get to the heart of the matter in days, not months.

Should you need additional help with tools, integration, or insight, intensives include one year of follow-up support.

Who Are Intensives For?

For people who need to make changes now:

  • Your relationship is in crisis and you need to address it now, either as an individual or a couple.
  • Your childhood traumas are preventing you from living fully in the present and you’re ready to move on.
  • You want to address the patterns keeping you from finding a committed relationship.

For people whose schedules can’t accommodate weekly therapy:

  • You’re an executive, athlete, or entertainer and you can’t afford to step away every week.
  • You’re a healthcare provider or lawyer and struggle to prioritize yourself while being on call to support patients and clients.
  • You travel a lot for work and don’t have consistent openings.

How It Works

Phase 1

The Foundations

After the initial consultation, we begin the change process immediately with a 75-minute session, in person or on Zoom, prior to your intensive. This meeting jump-starts the transformation process and identifies clear strategies for your intensive.

Phase 2

The Intensive

During the intensive itself, we’ll spend 1–3 days focused exclusively on your growth. We begin each day mid-morning, break for lunch, and wrap up around dinner time.

All intensives use a blend of therapeutic modalities to support healing, integration, and insight.

Three day intensives also include complementary activities like contrast therapy (sauna + cold plunges), gentle hikes, yoga, a private chef, or massage therapy.

Phase 3

Integration

Two weeks after the intensive, we will meet again for 75 minutes to make sure the changes we’ve targeted are integrating into your life.

Phase 4

Fine Tuning and Follow-up Support

Should you need additional help, you will have direct access to me for one year after the intensive. This allows us to deepen the integration, add and refine tools, and overcome any remaining roadblocks to change. This includes up to 15 minutes per week of support by email, text, video messaging, and when mutually available, phone.

What Clients Experience

In post-intensive follow-ups, clients regularly report:

1More Progress

They made more progress in 1 day than they have in months of traditional therapy.

2Turning Points

Their intensive served as a turning point in their lives, where they were finally able to overcome some of their biggest challenges.

FAQs

Intensives are for people who are motivated to change, have clear goals that they want to work on, and can commit to the process. During the initial consultation, we’ll determine if an intensive is the right approach for your specific situation. Not everyone is a good fit for intensive work, and I’ll be direct with you if I think weekly therapy is a better option.

I will manage much of the preparation for you. However, on your end, the best way to prepare is to disconnect from the rest of the world during your intensive. This means letting colleagues and loved ones know that you’ll be unavailable while we are working together.

If you’re traveling to Denver, I encourage you to arrive at least one day before your intensive and depart at least one day after.

During the intensive itself, come wearing comfortable clothing.

I’ll have water, tea, snacks, pens, journals, and a few surprises waiting for you. When we break for lunch, I’ll recommend walkable restaurants or places to get delivery from.

On the evening after your intensive, plan to rest. Clients will often take themselves out to a nice dinner, go for a long walk, or watch a favorite movie to decompress.

Yes, and for many couples, an intensive is a more effective approach than weekly therapy. We will discuss what approach is best for your relationship during the initial consultation.

Intensives require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your date. If something comes up, clients can reschedule their intensive once, with at least 2 weeks notice. Please note that all non-refundable expenses incurred due to rescheduling are the client’s responsibility.

In some circumstances, yes. Please schedule an initial consultation to discuss what location is best for you.

Yes. While I always recommend doing therapeutic work in person, we can also discuss a virtual intensive during the initial consultation.

Two weeks after the intensive we will meet for 75 minutes to make sure the changes we’ve targeted are integrating into your life. You’ll also have direct access to me for one year following your intensive.

If you need additional support beyond the included follow-up, you also have the option to book traditional therapy sessions as needed.
